THE X FACTOR SEASON 11: MY TOP14
Honestly I’m kinda pissed after seeing tonight’s show. I mean, I don’t know if that’s because I’m from Brazil or because I wasn’t even born early enough to go through the 80’s, but I couldn’t recognize half of the songs. Which is funny, because after knowing the theme i got REALLY excited.
But it was BORING. Horrible song choices. Aside from Stevi, it felt like everything was decided by the judges. It didn’t feel like the acts had any kind of saying on what they would be singing, what for me is really disturbing because we should be focusing on what the acts are willing to do and not on what the judges think they should.
#1 FLEUR EAST
OKAY, COME ON, WHAT IS SHE EVEN DOING ON THIS SHOW? THE WOMAN IS READY, PEOPLE, SHE SHOULD BE ON A STUDIO RECORDING SONGS AND NOT WAISTING HER TIME IN A STUPID SINGING COMPETITION. Best of the night ON A ROLL. LOVED that she rapped, it was like she could read my thoughts. Brava!
#2 LAUREN PLATT
I did not love her version of What a Feeling, but it was not bad. However, am I deaf or did her voice crack like three times?
#3 BEN HAENOW
It surprised me I enjoyed his performance this time. I think he really stepped it up. Was he really sick? I heard nothing wrong with his voice.
#4 PAUL AKISTER
Seriously, I love the guy, but honestly Paul, you better start singing some songs I could actually enjoy. If not, what’s even the point on me supporting you?
#5 JACK WALTON
It was OKAY. Don’t really care.
#6 ANDRE FAUSTINI
I don’t get him anymore. Is what he is doing even marketable? We all know he can sing any house down, but okay, what else is there? Can he really chart? What’s really great about him is his personality. I love him more than I love him performing, and when we’re talking about a singer, I think that is a problem, right? But still, he is not the kind of artist I listen to, so maybe my opinion is biased by that.
#7 STEREO KICKS
Here is the deal. They need to do SOMETHING. ANYTHING. Is it always gonna be like that? Four showing up in the main stage, the rest appearing at the chorus, all of them lined up singing, having some solos thrown around. The same guy singing the high notes at the end. It’s just like last week, nothing changed. I believe they should crack it up a notch, right now this is not really working for me. If they keep doing that, I don’t see them going far. On another note, I’m really sick of Cheryl complaining about the lack of focus because of the group’s number of boys. Clearly she knows NOTHING about idol groups. If she had done her research right she would have found some boybands out there with more than ten members.
#8 STEPHANIE NALA
I can see she improved, I can see she really tried to do something with a little bit more of spark, but it is still not coming through.
#9 ONLY THE YOUNG
What song was that? Is it country? Well, I don’t care. I hated it. NEXT.
#10 LOLA SAUNDERS
I couldn’t care less about her, but kudos for her for the song choice and for not sobbing her head off this time around.
#11 CHLOE JASMINE
Oddly enough, I expected something totally different. Her charisma is amazing, but it was not good. I absolutely LOVE the song, Fame is one of my favorite movies, but… no, just no, it didn’t work for me. And what the fuck was going on with that make-up? Was that even necessary?
#12 JAKE QUICKENDEN
I’m kinda torn about Jake this week. The first half of the song was just awful. Absolutely awful. I don’t know if it was him just being off key or if the song isn’t really under his range, but it was really really awful. I felt like he was struggling too much to sing it, and it’s never good to force your voice like that. We can hear and feel it. He should just do what he can do. HOWEVER, in the last half of the song it was like watching a different performance, and I actually kinda liked it, so I don’t know. Don’t want him gone just yet. Let’s see how he does next week.
#13 JAY JAMES
Boring. Forgettable. Sorry, Jay.
#14 STEVI RITCHIE
I just don’t care anymore. It was nice for the first live show, but it’s time to go home.
So this week two acts are getting eliminated again. I hope that at least Stevi is one of them. Does the show still need him? I think he has done enough. I can’t see him bringing anything else which he didn’t already show to us. I would still like to see Lola going home, she bores the hell out of me every time, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
I don’t know if I am ready to give up on Jay just yet. Let’s hope Britain doesn’t forget his performance just like I did.
THE X FACTOR SEASON11: MY TOP16
So I am watching this season of The X Factor UK, which I never watched before. I really enjoyed watching the US version of it, and I actually love Simon, so I decided I would give the original version a look, now that they canceled the show in America.
The first live show was yesterday and I got so excited while watching it I decided to list my top16 order from top to the bottom, because it is always funnier to leave who we want to kick out of the stage last.
#1 FLEUR EAST
FLEUR EAST. WHO IS THIS WOMAN, PEOPLE, AND WHERE HAS SHE BEEN HIDING? Totally vanilla when the season started, but it was the best performance of the night for me. I loved her rapping on the judge’s houses performance, I was expecting a little more of that, but I loved the song choice, what she did, how she did, the scenario (I love some Mondrian). Perfect. I would just like to see her rapping once more through the competition.
#2 ONLY THE YOUNG
Not at all interesting for me since this performance. I am not sure if I enjoyed it that much only because I love both songs and Elvis and The Beatles are like rock’n roll gods for me, but it was really fun to watch. The blonde guy really stepped it up, I remember he was a little bit shy during their first performances. Nice group dynamic, however, I don’t know why but I have a strong resistance to the blonde girl. She looks so annoying. But well, let’s see what else they can bring to the table.
#3 LAUREN PLATT
Until watching the live show I was trying to understand why did Cheryl chose that girl to go on, and now I cane definitely see it. I loved everything about it, it felt like it was her own song. Hope she keeps the quality.
#4 CHLOE JASMINE
It’s hard not to like her, she is such a character and has so much personality. Love what she did with TOXIC, I just wished she would focus more on singing than doing those mannerisms of her, but aside from that, I loved it all. The scenario was a great ideia too, making it look like a jazz bar. She should take off the last name out of her stage name. She is so unique that people could remember her only by CHLOE.
#5 STEVI RITCHIE
I have no words. I love hating him. He is SO BAD, people, it actually becomes good. And man, what are those arms of his?
#6 PAUL AKISTER
He should be on top of Stevie, but his performance was so underwhelming to me, I expected more. I love him, he is the cutest thing ever and I am really rooting for him, I think he can win this, but he has to work his nerves. I’ve seen him do better. I wish I had his wardrobe, love his style.
#7 BLONDE ELECTRA
It was watchable. They are interesting.
#8 STEREO KICKS
I love how Simon put them together. I mean, there’s no eight piece group anywhere besides in Asia, is there? Simon is not stupid, he probably does his research and could see that bigger groups can actually work, because they do work in Japan and Korea. I love the age difference, the younger is 14 and the older is 20. There’s diversity in that matter, which can be fun, but if it was up to me, I would have done a totally different thing with this group. Remember the twins that got eliminated last week? It would be fun to have a boyband with twin brothers mixed in there. I would definitely have changed some of the current boys in the band for them, even though they can’t really sing that well. And where’s the colour in this group? They should be named Caucasian, it would make more sense. I hate their name. Stereo Kicks? Come on.
#9 JAY JAMES
I like him. I wish him the best, but he is not my kind of artist. There’s definitely public for him out there, so I hope he makes far in the competition. I’ve heard he has been trying to get in the industry for a while now and that he can write his own songs. I love his smile, but I hate the song choice and the performance. If it was up to me, he would keep doing the stuff he was doing before.
#10 ANDREA FAUSTINI
Love the beard. Love his voice. Hate the song choice.
#11 JACK WALTON
Meh. Nice what he did with the arrangement, but that is it. Kinda boring to be honest.
#12 BEN HAENOW
He is cute, but that’s it. The best thing I saw from him in the show was his reaction when Simon told him he got through to the live shows.
#13 STEPHANIE NALA
She should have been put in a girlband. Solo is not for her. But I do like her. maybe she can bring something interesting. She probably won’t survive long.
#14 JAKE QUICKENDEN
#15 LOLA SAUNDERS
Why did they brought her back? Nothing coming from her screams artist for me. Having a good singing voice is not enough, people, I can’t stress this more.
#16 OVERLOAD GENERATION
OH MY GOD, THEY DIDN’T EVEN GO TO THE JUDGES HOUSES, WHY DID MEL B BRING THEM BACK? Wrong move. They should have brought back CONCEPT, which was a solid group, could sing, had a fashion sense and were ready, but instead Overload came back. WHY? I don’t understand, they were SO BAD last night I can’t even. I can’t. It was really bad, and that’s coming from a person who likes boybands. The main singer (the one in the middle, brunette, wearing the leather jacket) was nervous as fuck, he couldn’t dance or move properly, when he was not singing he would just stand there doing nothing. Awkward. Awkward. Awkward. Bad bad choice, Mel B. There’s nothing new or special about them. They deserve to be the first to be eliminated, but I am sure they won’t because they have a public to vote for them and keep them on the show some more weeks.
Obviously, I would like to see Overload Generation (horrible name, by the way) and Lola Saunders go home. Let’s see if my favorites mirror the outcome of tonight results.
